Course of the Week- B.Sc. Zoology

Zoology is the branch of biology which deals with the study of vertebrates and invertebrate animals.

Students study all aspects of animal life namely their classification, diversity, evolution, physiology, ecology and their molecular biology.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

A student wishing to study Zoology must satisfy the minimum University entry requirements and other Faculty of Science regulations.

KCSE C+ (plus), or an equivalent qualifications from institution(s) recognized by University Senate.

A student must have passed Biology or Biological Science in the KCSE at a minimum grade of B- (minus)

In addition, a student must have passed any two subjects from the following alternatives:-

Alternative A

  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Mathematics

Alternative B

  • Physical Science
  • Mathematics
  • Geography/Agriculture

Any of these majors is offered to a student who has obtained at least an average of B in Zoology examinations in the required units in his or her second year of study.
