Christian and Scientific Association of Kenya, JKUAT Chapter Launched

The Christian and Scientific Association of Kenya (CSAK), a premier professional Association geared towards facilitating synergetic interaction between science and Christian faith, has officially launched its JKUAT Chapter. The Association, which is non-political and non-sectarian, aims at providing a platform for constructive engagement on matters of mutual interest to science and religion, particularly in the African context.

Speaking at the event attended by senior University staff and post-graduate students, JKUAT’s Dr. Rev. Wakaba underpinned the significance of bringing religion and science together to foster a harmonious coexistence between the two entities which often take parallel dimensions of thoughts and ideas.

The Association was officially established in February 2016 following a funding by the Templeton World Charity Foundation to Mount Kenya University for a 3-year period. The launch of the JKUAT Chapter is a significant development, geared towards bringing on board more players and reaching a high number of individuals.

The CSAK mainly draws its membership from universities, as well as research institutions. The membership is open to faculty, postgraduate students, clergy and scholars in research institutions with interest in science and religion. One can either be a full member or an associate member.

The launch was presided over by Prof. Francis W. Muregi of Mount Kenya University, and saw JKUAT’s Dr. John Kinyuru elected to chair the JKUAT Chapter of the association. Ms. Nancy Ndungu was also elected Secretary to the chapter. While receiving documents and certifications of the JKUAT Chapter, Dr. Kinyuru urged both students and staff to join the professional body deepen their understanding, both in Science and Religion. ‘Joining such an exciting network of diverse scholars offers you an opportunity for synergy in your academic field as well as regular productive networking,’ he added.
