Cecilia Mwangi
JKUAT Alumni honored

Anti-jigger campaign beauty queen, Cecilia Mwangi, was honored with Head of State Commendations (HSC) award during this year’s Jamhuri day. This was in recognition for the anti-jigger campaign she has championed in the country.  She was also awarded with a Service Award 2009 as the Youngest Distinguished Alumni of JKUAT on 9th May 2009. She has also been recognized by Women Students’ Welfare Association (WOSWA) an initiative of University of Nairobi with a Young Achiever award at an event labeled in the footsteps of our Achievers. They recognized her efforts in making a difference in the society by undertaking the Anti-jigger campaign with zeal and confidence, an example which the young ladies should emulate.

Cecilia Mwangi, Miss World Kenya 2005, graduated with a degree in Computer technology of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

She has been involved in various projects that include;

• Shangilia Mtoto Wa Africa. This is a school for homeless and orphaned kids. They teach performing arts and have recently put up a music production studio.

• Machakos – Community school. This is an institution that takes care of orphans in Machakos.
